A Suit to Travel In

It’s good enough for acrobats…

Tunes Tuesday

Let my sighs give ways to songs that sing about your faithfulness.
Let my pain reveal your glory as my only real rest.
Let my losses show me all I truly have is you!

Psalm 42
As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for you, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my food
day and night,
while they say to me all the day long,
Where is your God?
These things I remember,
as I pour out my soul:
how I would go with the throng
and lead them in procession to the house of God
with glad shouts and songs of praise,
a multitude keeping festival.
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.
My soul is cast down within me;
therefore I remember you
from the land of Jordan and of Hermon,
from Mount Mizar.
Deep calls to deep
at the roar of your waterfalls;
all your breakers and your waves
have gone over me.
By day the Lord commands his steadfast love,
and at night his song is with me,
a prayer to the God of my life.
I say to God, my rock:
Why have you forgotten me?
Why do I go mourning
because of the oppression of the enemy?
As with a deadly wound in my bones,
my adversaries taunt me,
while they say to me all the day long,
Where is your God?
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise him,
my salvation and my God.

Rejoice!

This is one of my favorite songs to sing on Sunday because of the power behind the lyrics and the straight fun it brings, but today as I was singing the words they hit me in a new way. While in the midst of suffering I am being lead by a man who can fully empathize, who is fully God and can is the only one able to take away all pain. That’s amazing.

“All our sickness all our sorrows
Jesus carried up the hill.
He has walked this path before us.
He is walking with us still
turning tragedy to triumph
turning agony to praise.
There is blessing in the battle
so take heart and stand amazed.

Rejoice! When you cry to Him he hears
your voice.
He will wipe away your tears
Rejoice! In the midst of suffering
He will help you sing, Rejoice!”

Philippians 4:4-8,13

“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice. Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things…. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

After 2 days and 200 miles, the group meets the story’s narrator, El Chapulin (The Grasshopper) to listen to his story, tell their own, and compete in an event that he created over 15 years ago. NOBODY LOVES JOEL ROMEO

This is a great short documentary of a Ballard legend. Joel Romeo used to frequent Blackbird all the time when I worked there. I wish I had taken the time and effort to get to know him a little better. I love his drawings and comics, and his always smiling face. Make sure you go vote for this video – here.
