CLOUDS

CLOUDS

If you couldn’t tell yet, I’m quite obsessed with images of clouds, well really just clouds in general. The shapes, the textures, the way light is blocked or let through, really anything to do with them. I found this awesome Damir Doma jacket a few years ago, and fell in love. I’m glad I didn’t buy it because well it’d end up not getting worn that much but it sure is cool.

BEACH DREAMS

This is just too funny to not post. I miss the beach. Thankfully, I live only a few blocks away from a lake that is swim-able in the summer. Rocks are not the same as sand, but they also don’t stick all over you either. Looking forward to warmer days, they are just around the corner.

Photo from Wes Anderson’s latest film, Moonrise Kingdom in case you didn’t already know.  My current obsession for a few reasons.

Okay so pretty much every single aspect of the movie! I love that my blog posts about things are a year after they have been out. I am certainly not the most current, but always relevant!

IF NOT NOW THEN WHEN

If not now then when? I often find myself so focused on what the future  holds, or imagining how I’d like my life to be that I forget about the now. There is something to be said for living life day to day to it’s fullest, and taking advantage of the season that you have been placed in. Viewing it as a blessing and chance for growth. I don’t want to get caught up in a future that, more likely then not, will not be what I pictured. In fact, I know it won’t, but what’s great is that it is typically better than I could have imagined. I want to be living in the now, centered on taking full advantage to grow in and pursue Christlikeness in this season. Preparing myself for things to come, without knowing what is to come!

Fireflies v.2

I edited some levels and added a few backing vocal tracks. Basically I was bored and mixed with stuff. Also I put a super sweet photo to this song! haha Enjoy.

Here is an image I created. The words are from a chorus I wrote.

Another Rough Song

Here is another song I wrote before this past summer, and decided to record today. The lyrics deal with the struggle I felt inside of giving up control of my life and submitting to Christ. It was only through my realization that I was rebelling and afraid of giving up this ‘control’ I have over my life that I was able to give that to Him. I remember distinctly the sermon Deacon Guisti gave that brought this to a clear tipping point for me. Enjoy.

This is True

This showed up on my facebook feed today. I am not sure if it is actually a quote of George Carlin or not, but either way it should be read!

“The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways ,but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete…

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.

Remember, to say, ‘I love you’ to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.”

George Carlin

These wordss could not resonate more with me than they have lately. The further I allow myself to trust God, and see the world as it is meant to be seen, the further these truths stand out to me. Why am I more comfortable talking with strangers on the internet than I am talking with close friends in person sometimes? The world is constantly becoming more and more instant but with less worth, full of less nutrients, and giving less satisfaction. My hope is that after reading this you will take a second, one valuable second, to re-evaluate the way you see things.

Take this into the New Year!
