BRADLEY HATHAWAY

I came to know Bradley Hathaway from going to a hardcore show whilst in high school. I remember the night clearly. Jeff and I were at Studio 7 to see The Chariot and As Cities Burn. Waiting between sets, we noticed some awesome shirts by a “band” called Bradley Hathaway of which we had never heard. Then all of a sudden a skinny long haired man begins doing poetry within the “pit”. Gathered attentively, Bradley’s words cascaded through the heads of those individuals who, at this point, had encompassed him in a ring of patience, awaiting each and every overly emphasized syllable. At the time, he became known to me for his comical hits “I am Hardcore” and “Manly Man” but he is most certainly centered upon one center, Christ. The jest filled songs gave way to spoken words about God’s love and grace, and today I fully appreciate that.

SATISFIED IN YOU

I have been listening to this song over and over. It’s so good. I need to often be reminded to stop listening to myself and start talking to myself.  Listen to the rest of this album and others on Mars Hill’s Bandcamp.

THE ART OF FALLING

I decided to make a band camp and upload ‘ep’s of similar songs that I have on my computer. This is an easier way to listen to them than posting them on here.

Here is the first of what will probably be many titled “The Art of Falling” featuring two songs with vocals and two instrumentals. There is a fifth that will be added once finished.

I made a collage in photoshop for the album cover. (seen above as well)

Fireflies v.2

I edited some levels and added a few backing vocal tracks. Basically I was bored and mixed with stuff. Also I put a super sweet photo to this song! haha Enjoy.

Our World Is Grey

Come Now Sleep by As Cities Burn played such a big part in my life post high school. I have listened to it countless times. I love all of it. Here is a song called “Our World is Grey” off of said album.

Moon

Here is another song. I have been having fun having time to write record quick lil songs this past week. Not the best, I know, but I enjoy doing it. Fun to look back on as well.

Sunshine – Wolfe

Was scrolling through my old Tumblr and found this song again. So great.

“The other night dear, as I was sleeping, I dreamt I held you in my arms. When I awoke dear I was mistaken, and so I hung my head and I cried.”

Her voice is so cool!

Another Rough Song

Here is another song I wrote before this past summer, and decided to record today. The lyrics deal with the struggle I felt inside of giving up control of my life and submitting to Christ. It was only through my realization that I was rebelling and afraid of giving up this ‘control’ I have over my life that I was able to give that to Him. I remember distinctly the sermon Deacon Guisti gave that brought this to a clear tipping point for me. Enjoy.

Cemetery Gates

Jonsi performing 4 songs at Cemetery Gates. I love hearing different versions of songs I know, and how the lack of instruments or electronics creates a whole new feel to them.
